the click of a lock
the click of a lock i wait and listen closely their sounds and scents fade anticipation — i'll check: have they really gone? ... the click of a lock again ears perked up, i wait nails tip-tap the floor — i run sounds, scents overwhelm a scuffle in the hallway: it's true, they always come back.
hi!
with this haiku which became two tankas which became a naga-uta, i wanted to explore the line between cute and creepy, and the similarities between different kinds of anticipation. are you waiting for a monster to return? or is there a little monster waiting for you at home?
see you next time xx
Definitely does what you were aiming for!
